High CPU usage on the main Framework website

Was just browsing around the main page when i started noticing my CPU fan spinning up.

I did a little testing and once i start browsing around the framework pages my CPU usage went from 15%, to 30%, then 50% and after a few mins was hitting 85-90%. If i close the browser tab it’s running on i’m back to 2-3% utilisation, if i re-open the framework browser tab it starts eating up loads of CPU again.

Not entirely sure if it’s my browser or the website itself, but i thought i’d mention it.

PC this is happening on:
Win11
Firefox 136.0 with ublock origin
Ryzen 7 5800X3D with 32GB RAM

I might be having the same issue, as I have noted an unusally high cpu load on rear occasions. I typically have the webbrowser running in the background.

Do you have hardware acceleration enabled in Firefox?

I wouldn’t even know how.

Check the graphics section of about:support.

the option doesn’t exit on my install

I checked and it was enabled.

Also tried toggling the setting
media.hardware-video-decoding.force-enabled
on, but that didn’t have any noticeable effect after a restart

Same here! My CPU usage went to 100% (Ryzen 5500U, HP laptop, Win11) when I left the Framework main site open in the background. Upon closing the tab it dropped back to 10-ish.

What’s going on?

Same here! This issue is really annoying. It is worse on Firefox, but it is also present in Chromium.

BTW, it apparently showed up in this public review of the Framewok 13: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lYdFxJQd_c&t=892s
