I repasted my Asus Zephyrus G16 2024 from liquid metal to the PTM7950 and I’m both impressed and disappointed/worried with the results. On the GPU, the temp peak went from 87->84 immediately and now, after three days, does not go above 80. And, I got around 50% boost in Time Spy benchmark, going from 10,500 to 16,000. The CPU on the other hand, has not received any boost in performance and what’s troubling is that the temp has been getting hot. With the old liquid metal it would peak at around 87 and now it peaks at 100-102.
It’s been three days, is it going to get any better? Or should I repaste the CPU with liquid metal?
There have been previous tests related to the use of PTM7950 on the forums however, they are specific to the Framework 13. I recommend posting on an Asus-related forum/community platform as you may receive better responses there.
It won’t get any better. PTM7950 pretty much gets going right from the start. If the CPU comes with LM, stick with LM. It’s the best case scenario. Going from LM to PTM7950 is a downgrade.
(For reference: I have an ROG Strix G16 with a 13980HX, CPU TDP peak out at 207.5W…and it uses LM on the CPU)
