Improving Performance of W11 VMs in Virtual Machine Manager?

Good morning! I am running Virtual Machine Manager in Fedora Kinoite on a new Framework 12 AMD AI 300 Laptop. I have created a Windows 11 VM. It is functional, but given the amount of resources I am allocating to this VM, I was expecting better performance.

Q: What settings can I change within VMM or the W11 VM itself in order to improve the performance of the W11 VM?

Note: I have already disabled SuperFetch, turned off Windows Web Search in the registry, and Visual Effects have been set to “Adjust for best performance”.

More information about the VM setup are probably helpful first. It is being run on a type 2 hypervisor so it is not going to be like it is natively.

Plus it is a laptop not a desktop so defaults are going to be to conserve resources.

Some reference points might be helpful to support the overall lack of performance. Say vs. another VM setup with similar hardware.

Not trying to pick this apart. Just more context is needed. Also, reading up on what other users are doing to optimize performance using whatever VMM is being used and what changes they made to optimize performance could be useful.

This is a somewhat small community (it’s getting bigger every day though!) so others who regularly run VM could have more datapoints to gleam info from.

Another choice is to contact support and ask if they have VM guidance or optimized settings.
