Inaccurate battery charging status in Ubuntu 23.04 / FL13 11th / 78% battery charge threshold

The battery status reported from /sys/class/power_supply/BAT1/status is always showing “Charging” even though the battery is not charging (reached 78%, the threshold set in the BIOS), and the side LED is white.

What would it take to get it to show “Plugged in, not charging” in this state…because it’s full to the specified threshold?

(I was hoping that it would be resolved over the last 2 years…but I’m still seeing this behaviour)

Not going to pretend that I know exactly what’s happening here…but the expected outcome / behaviour is that the side LED indicator, the BAT1 status, the GUI and the actual charging state of the battery should all align to say the same thing.
