Hello. Maybe this is a dumb question but I preodered a Framework 13 pro with the AMD Rhyzen 9 300 series. I noticed that the only option for a prassembled one has Windows. I’m wondering if there is some problem running Linux on this computer so that is why it wasn’t an option. I’m not super computer savvy but I have been using Linux Mint on my other older computers without any problems and would prefer to run Linux as I’m not a fan of Microsoft, Google, etc. I saw there may be some problems with Mint and I don’t mind running Ubuntu if that works on it. Would it be better to get the intel version? That one seems much more expensive for a model with similar amounts of RAM so I hope not.

There should be no problem running many different varieties of Linux on that machine.
The version with the Intel Panther Lake board is the first one where Ubuntu officially certified it, so they offer Ubuntu pre-installed on that machine. But all Framework machines are designed with the intent of being Linux compatible, and Framework works with various distros, including sending them machines, to insure compatibility.
Obviously, Linux has its share of challenges from time to time. But there’s no reason you can’t use Linux on the AMD 300 series boards.
Edit: I have been running Fedora on the AMD 7840u version of the FW 13 for years.

I also never had any issues with my Framework 13 11th Intel. Now with Ubuntu pre-installed there is another level support.
For FL13P, Intel was cheaper than AMD before RAMageddon. However both Ubuntu and Windows are officially supported so it’s probably a configurator bug on the website
The pro can be pre-ordered with Ubuntu pre-installed.
I’m running Ubuntu on my AMD AI 350 motherboard for a year in my FW13.
That leaves 0 room for incompatibility for running AMD 350 in a pro.
Hardware compatibility is a matter of the kernel and that’s the same whether you run Ubuntu or Mint (and Mint is based on Ubuntu anyway), so I don’t see how you could have problems running Mint.
The only problem you might have is with Mint release running behind Ubuntu. If that gives you a problem you could just try to fix it with upgrading the kernel (within Mint) to a more recent version with the mainline kernel package.
But if you don’t mind running Ubuntu to begin with - it does run beautifully on Framework 13. Just get 26.04 (ignore comments telling you to wait for some point release) and you’ll be fine.
