Kernel panic while installing Linux or start newer kernels

Hi,

I have been using my FW13 AMD with Gentoo like distro for about year. Recently I noticed that newly installed/updated kernels won’t boot (panic /w o /wout the caps led flashing), so I sticked with kernel 6.11.9, which seems to work fine. Later on, when updating packages I’ve start to experience issues, such as reset on wake up from sleep, and runtime freezes. Those were the reasons I’ve decided it is time to do a fresh install. So I downloaded the last release of my favorite distro (Calculate Linux) and start the process. To my surprise, it panicked during the installation process. So I decide to try more mainstream distro and started the Manjaro install. But the same thing happens again!

I should notice that my BIOS version was 3.05, which I updated to 3.16 when trying to solve mysterious issues I’ve described.

Is this faulty hardware or misconfigured BIOS option? Or something else? Please help!

Do you have secure boot enabled?

No, I don’t use secure boot.

Perhaps you’re missing some kernel configuration. Check with this: Framework Laptop 13 - Gentoo wiki , as I don’t have any issues (writing this on Gentoo with kernel 6.16.6)

If the kernel panics, what is the kernel error message. One cannot really understand what is wrong unless you read the error messages.

I know I’m missing something, perhaps in configuration but could not figure out what, because I do not have ANY messages. It hangs immediately after loading initrd.

Check your kernel configs against the wiki link I posted as a first step.
