How about swapping the position of the keyboard and the mousepad, like on the old Acer Aspire R7?
The separate the touchpad into a smaller left handed touchpad (without mouseclick sensors) for moving the mouse cursor, then dedicated left/right mouse buttons for your right hand? And maybe a “thinkpad style” jogwheel closer to the mouse buttons for onehand operations while sipping your drink?
The thought here is that when you type with keyboard closer to you, your elbows are tucked closer together, when you move forward to use the touchpad and mouse buttons, your elbows flare out, and your arms rests of your desk outside the chassis, while your hands stay in the same position. Ergonomic and natural movements. Max flow.
Food for thoughts?
