[Linux] Framework 16 Not Properly Rebooting/Shutting Down

I am running NixOS on a Framework 16 Ryzen with the most recent BIOS version (3.03). The issue I am having is that even though the OS successfully shuts down and the screen goes off, the power button on the Framework remains on. Rebooting also doesn’t work, the screen goes off but the power button remains on and nothing else happens.

So when rebooting it only" shuts off" and stay in that weird state? This might be a bug in the BIOS or on nix os side with drivers. If I were you I would watch for BIOS/firmware releases and apply them asap. Probably gonna be fixed in the next couple of months. Does it does this too on other linux distros / windows ? Debian for example? Fedora? May be worth trying to see if thats a driver problem which I think it is. May be related to the fingerprint reader driver having trouble to power off if you ask me.

I would see if it occurs on a different distro like Fedora 40. If it doesn’t then it is likely NixOS. You might be able to identify the cause by checking your logs with journalctl.
If it occurs in Fedora 40 then it is likely an issue with your laptop. I am on the latest BIOS on Fedora 40 and don’t experience the issue you are describing.

It appears it was an issue with the Linux kernel I was using. Changing from 6.6.32 to 6.9.3 solved it.
