I am experience microstuttering when connecting to an external monitor via a USB-C to Displayport cable while also using a USB-C hub. I have tried the following configurations
- Monitor cable connected directly to USB-C hub on top left-side USB-C port. Causes microstutter
- Monitor cable connected to top left-side USB-C port while hub plugged into top right-side USB-C port. Causes microstutter.
- No USB-C hub. Plugging power, display, and mouse/keyboard cables separately into the laptop eliminates the stutter.
I have not tried this on my Windows boot, but I’d really like to get this resolved on linux as that’s my main distro of use. Currently on Wayland. Please let me know if you need more system info for diagnosis.
Edit 1: Also occurs on Windows, but is less noticeable/severe.
Edit 2: Using a Cable Matters 8-in-1 USB-C hub. Note that I am not using the Displayports, but using a USB-C to Displayport cable. I suspect that the USB-C to DP cable might be the problem.
