Is Framework looking at potentially building out a Googlebook? If not would it support upgrading the OS to Googlebook OS for those with Chromebooks?

To my limited understanding, FW did do a Chromebook at one point:
But we can only guess if they would bring the concept back.
ChromeOS Flex would also work with all the caveats that entails
Right, I own one. I was looking to see if they are contemplating doing a Googlebook or at least a Googlebook motherboard ![]()
I’ll be happy to share your thoughts with the team, but we dont comment on future new product roadmaps.
Does anybody here know if Googlebook OS will be installable on non-googlebook hardware? Like how you could get ChromeOS using a third-party build?
ChromeOS Flex allows installation on non-Chromebook hardware: Install ChromeOS Flex: Fast, Secure OS for PCs & Macs
Of course only Google knows what they’re going to do in the future, but I assume this will also be available for the new OS that runs on Googlebooks.
Framework has indeed exited the Chromebook market. There just wasn’t enough demand for a premium Chromebook. Google guaranteed them a minimum purchase and provided engineering assistance for the Chromebook Edition, so Framework didn’t lose money.
It’s possible that Framework will offer a Googlebook, but they’ll need to see evidence that people will actually buy Googlebooks. As with the previous Chromebook, it will probably be a modified version of one of their existing models. One big obstacle is that buyers will probably be somewhat price-sensitive, and it will be hard for Framework to approach the pricing of companies like Acer, Lenovo, Dell, and HP – they just don’t have enough leverage with suppliers.
Framework will not comment on such a product until such time, if ever, that they are ready to announce it. They do not say anything about possible future products.
