Migrate from Intel i7-1280P to Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 on Linux?

Hello!

I am considering upgrading my Framework 13 12th gen Intel 1280P to the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, and I would love not to need to reinstall Linux, PopOS specifically.

I know that I will likely need microcode updates via apt, and probably Radeon drivers. It’s the Radeon driver I am not sure about. Can I install them in advance? I don’t want to run into issues not being able to get video and being dead in water, but I’m not sure which drivers I need.

Also, will my DDR43200 work? I have 64 gigs of it, and with the current RAM price issues, I’d love to use my existing RAM.

Thanks!

Ryzen 9 is DDR5 only I’m afraid.

I wasn’t aware that the 12th Gen would take DDR4, if I’m honest.

The kernel drivers are part of the kernel. If you have the kernel from your distro they will already be there.

The mesa drivers for Intel and AMD are distributed in same package as well.
