Model of LPDDR5X chips?

I’m looking at purchasing a Max+ 395 desktop but don’t want to dish out an extra grand for the 128GB version over the 64GB version. I’m worried about the long-term viability of this system and would like the ability to upgrade the chips from 8GB each to 16GB each.

My partner has experience with this kind of upgrade on their Lenovo Legion Go, so my main concern is whether I can source the chips online.

A batch 1 128GB framework desktop reports the memory modules in HWiNFO as MT62F4G32D8DV-023 WT

Which a search turns up MT62F4G32D8DV-023-WT-C {2} part detail | Micron Technology Inc.

Here is the micron part number chart for these modules:

Newer framework desktops or older ones with a firmware update may also support modules sourced from other suppliers considering the enhancement noted in the 3.05 firmware update.

Thank you so much for this…

I think I may be in over my head, the chips seem to be priced around $500 to $600 and not available anywhere.

If it were me I wouldn’t attempt it, but I won’t stop someone determined to try it.

Also I saw a listing on digikey backordered for unit price of $405, but minimum order quantity of 1,050 units for $425k . Who knows what pricing changes will happen in the near or long term.

Hopefully this serves anyone else with idling thoughts of BGA ram swapping.

Yeah, I fear those prices and availability won’t get any better unless the AI bubble pops
The oligarchs want all our compute in the cloud

8 chips * $400 each = $3200|

god i love capitalism

Solution: Let’s all band together and chip in a grand each and resell for $500/pc over the years and redistribute the profits. (/half joking)
