Hello,
I really want to love the laptop but coming from a fanless Chromebook it’s been difficult dealing with the noise, especially if u only get silence when u limit it to the Chromebooks performance.
Anyway what kind of mods have u guys performed to keep the noise at bay.

Personally, I haven’t messed with the hardware of my laptop that much, but I have installed some software to make the fan noise slightly better when I don’t care for performance:
I have a Framework Laptop 16 7040 edition and the best thing that I was able to do was use the ‘Power-profiles-daemon‘ in Linux Mint, which is based off of Ubuntu, which is based off of Debian. It limits the clock speed to help use less power, but it also helps with temps. Since Nix isn’t based off of Ubuntu or Debian, I think you would need to check with the official wiki for NixOS to see if they have a power management daemon similar to Ubuntu (and Mint). There’s also fw-fanctrl, I use it quite regularly for controlling the fan curves for my laptop (requires kernel 6.11 or newer to work). It’s not the best, but it does get the job done when I’m in a work environment and has a config file to control the fan curves. Limiting power will tank performance in most situations, but it keeps the temps down.
