Hi everyone,
I’m looking for help deciding on a monitor for general usage and have one in mind: Asus ProArt PA279CV 27”. However, I’ve run into some confusion about whether my laptop can fully support higher refresh rates. I’d appreciate any insights before making a purchase to avoid unnecessary bottlenecks.
Specs:
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 7840U
- OS: Windows 11
- Laptop: 13th Gen Framework
- RAM: 32GB
- Storage: 2TB
From my research, the Framework laptop’s ports seem to support 4K at 60Hz, but the CPU and connection type are capable of much more, potentially even up to 480Hz. So I’m left wondering whether there are limitations beyond what the specs imply and if that means a high refresh rate monitor would be bottlenecked.
Additionally, I strongly prefer a monitor that supports power delivery and display over USB-C since I’m already using all my ports.
If anyone has experience with the Asus ProArt or recommendations for a monitor with similar specs, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Thank you!
