New to Linux

Thx.

That’s why I asked for advice. This guide just shows how to install the basic protocol. I was just thinking maybe someone has a guide that actually works. Until now, I’ve only found (

a) very outdated guides,

b) guides for running a NAS server, or

c) some that I can’t understand with my current knowledge.

This evening, when the kids are asleep and I still have a little energy left, I’ll search again.

Edit: Found a YouTube Tutorial, did IT, logged Out AS my root folder… reinstalling now…

Here’s an update—maybe it will help someone else.

I have a UGREEN NAS. I connected it to Linux via SMB. You can find various terminal guides for this. They work more or less—although I did manage to lock myself out of the system once.

What was much easier was this: after I enabled the feature on the NAS, I could find it under Network in the SMB Devices section. There I entered the credentials once, logged in, and saved them. Unlike the guides, the credentials are then stored encrypted.

After that, you can right-click it and add it to Places, and it will also show up on the left side in Dolphin.

Right now I’m working on setting up remote access. My FRITZ!Box supports WireGuard, which Linux also seems to support by default. The configuration initially looks simple, but when I import the VPN file into Linux, the connection from another network into my home network doesn’t work. I’m still a bit at a loss here.
