I think you can watch the video on your Netflix now. I can do it.

I found the following media articles about Netflix’s “Buy Now!” mentioning Nrp.

Both National Post and 2oceansvibe’s articles have very similar content.

Anybody actually watch this yet? I found it rather unimpressive with not a lot of substance. Felt like way to much time was spent on the cute little theme of the robotic voice training prospective psychopaths, and not diving nearly deep enough into any one aspect of the waste problem. Maybe it’s just me and the fact that almost none of this was news to me, but still I think the message gets lost to even the casual observer because of the lack of specifics and too heavy a focus on silly production value elements. Nonetheless, cool to see Nirav there, and I think he did a pretty good job.

For a real high intensity dose of existential dread, may I instead suggest the book Wasteland by Oliver Franklin Wallis? It goes a lot deeper into pretty much all these topics in a narrative way that I found really engaging as someone who doesn’t read a lot of books. Heard the dude rather randomly on a podcast, got convinced to buy the book, was not disappointed.

My thoughts exactly. Still appreciate NRP’s efforts. He probably didn’t know he was going to be edited this way or that this focus of the movie would be so hipster-ish. Still not hating, just not my thing. Framework rules though!

Concur. Would have appreciated more thorough examinations of each of the five points with the featured interviewees. Would have been a good idea to then review each point as a part of an overall message/theme. I did appreciate the interviewees input and experiences, but felt the documentarians left a lot of substance on the table to shoehorn that faux AI Assistant nonsense into the production.

Yup. I watched this at once. Now I am watching it for 2nd time.

The Direct

Nirav Patel was previously a member of the founding team of Oculus at Apple, with his responsibilities mainly focused on hardware organization. He was also part of the team that developed FaceTime.

The above text “a member of the founding team of Oculus at Apple” is incorrect.

Hah, congrats on the IMDB page! Glad to see it’s getting positive reviews, it’s a worthwhile piece of media even if it doesn’t go as deep as I think it could have.
