Which Framework Laptop 16 model are you using? AMD Ryzen 7040
My laptop started having an occasional problem waking up from sleep. I’d say about 20% of the time. I’m not 100% positive, but I believe the issue started after I installed the latest BIOS update through fwupdmgr.
The laptop typically goes to sleep with the display open, and I tap a key to wake it up.
About 20% of the time the laptop continues to sleep, the power button continues to cycle, periodically. After maybe ten seconds, or so, the laptop wakes up and just does a normal boot; but sometimes it continues to sleep until I hold the power button for 15 seconds, or so, to trigger a hard power off. Then, a normal tap on the power button does a normal boot.
I’m just curious if anyone else is having the same problem. I’d rather grin and bear it, rather than try installing older firmware.
I don’t know about the normal-boot-after-sleep behavior, but failing to resume from suspend is, unfortunately, a known issue with no known solution. I think the most active thread recently is one I started, which also has links to other possibly-related threads.
My wake after suspend issue started only recently, around the time I installed the latest firmware update. Prior to that there were no issues. I double-checked my order, and I got this one in May of 2024, one of the early batches. So, from then, until late 2025, there were no issues with waking up from suspend.
My framework Desktop just started failing to wake from sleep as well – in the same way as yours.
Bazzite is the OS
I believe this coincided with some sort of update because I also lost access to the bluetooth adapter & wifi. I had to do hard shutdown and reboot to get those things back, but now the sleep wake failure.
