Opensuse leap 15.3 - Wifi drivers?

Greetings all,

Has anyone installed Opensuse Leap 15.3 and gotten the wifi drivers to work? It seems the kernel in Leap 15.3 is too old to work with the intel wifi module? I know some have gotten opensuse tumbleweed running however I would like to stick with leap 15.3 if possible.

Thanks,

Cheers,

According to Google, OpenSUSE Leap 15.3 uses Linux 5.3.18. If that’s the case, then it’s way too old - the minimum kernel version to use the WiFi is 5.10 for basic support, although I’ve heard you need 5.13.10 or higher to get full functionality. You can try seeing if it’s possible to upgrade just the kernel for Leap 15.3, so then you get better hardware support while keeping the stable packages for everything else.

Greetings Mirage,

Makes sense thanks for the information. I suspected as much. Oh well perhaps I will replace the kernel as you mentioned, or just bite the bullet and use tumbleweed.

@Wanderer You should be able to use the Kernel:stable:Backport repository.

@water261 Thank you for this link. Makes sense I might try this.
