Plans to sell just the Desktop case?

I personally am happy with the current PC I have but liked the idea of being able to buy the case for my own motherboard. After some digging on the forum and on the website I can’t seem to see anything about buying just the case. Is there any plans to sell just the case in the future at all? And if not, may I ask why? Thanks :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I asked a while back about modifying my motherboard-only order to include things that were not popping up in Marketplace, like the case frame:

“As for when the parts themselves will be in stock, we do not have an exact date yet but would be around the time devices start shipping, or when we go from pre-orders to in stock.”

Yes, we will make the case available in the Framework Marketplace.

Hi @nrp! Thank you for the reply here! Was wondering if you could help with two more questions regarding the Desktop case:

  1. Are there still plans to sell the case handle? If so, will that be available to buy before the Desktops ship?
  2. Is it possible to provide an opening on the back of the case for the pcie 4x slot? That way if, for example, we added an ethernet card, we could access the ports from the back.

@nrp Or perhaps, is there any chance an alternate version of the Desktop Case can be offered that provides a slot on the back of the case to accommodate the bracket of a pcie card? (For example, this Qnap card: QXP-800eS-A1164 | Expand PC and NAS storage with easy installation | QNAP (US)
(With a bracket, it is 17.24mm wide; without a bracket, it is 12mm wide)

The Framework Desktop Case is just so darn cool… but not being able to accommodate the bracket of a pcie card is a bummer. I’d be willing to bump my Batch 7 order to a later date just to be able to get this functionality; or perhaps be a tester for such a case model.

is there an ETA on when the case might be available for pre-order? I thought I’d use my Dan case A4 but the heatsink is taller :frowning: so now I’m wondering if I should’ve just gone for the full DIY build vs just the mainboard.
