Plugging in HDMI cable does not wake up the monitor

Hello there, just a quick question. Has anyone had similar problem where the hdmi does not seem to detect or wake up monitor until you plug in the power cable? You can take the power cable off and work on battery once the monitor has been woken and it works as expected otherwise. It just does not seem to be able to start it without power plugged in.
