[QUERY] Brand/type of DDR5 you're planning to buy for Framework 13 AMD Ryzen Series

Greetings everyone,

We are running an important poll here. We need to know which brand/type of DDR5 you’re planning to buy for Framework 13 AMD Ryzen Series.

Good response is:
Full brand/type details along with series numbers, amount to be installed, etc.
Be overly specific please!

  • Brand
  • Branding type (super duper series X, etc)
  • How much to be installed

Again, this is DDR5 RAM for Framework 13 AMD Ryzen 7040 Series

This feedback is very important so we can continue with focused RAM testing.

Thank you!

2x Kingston FURY Impact DDR5 16 GB, 5600 MHz, CL40 (KF556S40IB-16, CL40-40-40 1.1V)

Bought last week, installed today, did not go well at first. Only booted after a few tries, with a single stick in the right slot. After that I re-tested the left slot, and both at once, and it keeps booting fine. I guess the memory controller just needed an easier homework to train on first.

(Also, isn’t this essentially the same poll as the following? I did not post there, since the RAM I was planning to buy was already mentioned by someone else and I did not want to post duplicates… [DDR5 ONLY] RAM Survey - Framework Laptop 13 (AMD Ryzen 7040 Series) and Framework Laptop 16 DIY )

Kingston Fury Impact 5600MHz CL40 2x16GB (KF556S40IBK2-32).

No issues booting Windows 11.

I purchased a Kingston FURY Impack 32GB kit (2x16GB) model number KF556S40IBK2-32 and have not been able to get the system to boot with any combo of single or dual sticks.

Configured my Framework 13 with a Ryzen 5 7640u.

Going out to Microcenter later for a Crucial 32GB stick kit that is on the Framework compatibility list.

used in R5 7640U

sometimes bluescreens and once or twice freezes

using 2x Crucial CT48G56C46S5 48GB DDR5-5600

At the time (end of September 23, bought before the laptop arrived ;-)), these were the only available 48GB modules here in Germany. More or less a bit overkill as well, but when moving from one machine to the next, the inner nerd in me needs a bigger number in RAM

Utilizing the Kingston Fury 32GB Kit ( KF556S40IBK2-32), It’s a part of their PnP line and has a CL40 timing.

Booted first try on the V3.03 UEFI and CPU-Z shows it using its CL40 timing.

We’ve got two AMD fw13, each with 1x 48GB Crucial CT48G56C46S5 DDR5-5600.

I’ll likely end up using the same 48GB stick for the fw16 when it gets here. With maybe a bump to 96GB in a couple of years.
