Rebooting/restarting from OS fails, but shutting down and turning on works

Hello all, I have been having a strange boot issue with my system and I have been playing around in the BIOS and EFI files to no avail. My issue lies in that I can boot into the OS from the computer being off, but when I try to reboot my system from Debian or Ubuntu via commands or GUI, the reboot will be unsuccessful and then the BIOS will fail to show my boot drive until I shut down my computer and restart it. Upon restarting it manually (via the off button) I can boot back into my OS normally.

The error that gets thrown is the “Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed.”

Has anyone seen a solution for this anywhere? I would greatly appreciate it!

Which Linux distro are you using?
I am using Debian 12 Stable and tested the latest version of Ubuntu Desktop (24.04.1), both having the same issue.

Which kernel are you using?
Debian 12 Stable: 6.1.0

Which BIOS version are you using?
3.03

Which Framework Laptop 16 model are you using? (AMD Ryzen™ 7040 Series)
The Ryzen 7 7840HS with the GPU module installed.

Please update your kernel version. Kernel 6.1.0 is very old (relative to the Framework 16) and was released before the Framework 16 was even released. It is very likely the OS is having some issues with drivers to communicate with the hardware.

Try to update your OS to kernel 6.8+ then check to see if the issue still occurs.
