Removing and replacing the back foot

I recently found these stick-on feet that look like they’d be really handy for improving airflow while on the go.

My only issue is that there isn’t a very large area to place it. Between the expansion cards and back foot I don’t think there would be enough room.

Do you think it would be wise to remove the back foot and replace it with these new feet I’ve found? What is under the backfoot and how hard is it to remove?

Thanks!

Hi Valence! The back feet on the FW13 are fairly easy to reach. Once the mainboard is removed youll see some black tabs along the indent the foot rests on.

pushing these feet out will pop off that long upper foot. Depending on the angle of the new feet, the bottom feet may stop having contact with the desk and could slip.

Hope this helps!

Wow, thanks very much for this insight. I appreciate it.

Have you any clue what it would look like on the underside with the foot removed?

not the prettiest in the world, but it could give you that extra room. also those clips are Plastic not rubber, it could break on removal like two of mine did :frowning:

Those plastic clips may have been melted into the shape they are, and there is no way to remove them with breaking. Or the plastic clips were inserted from the inside, then the rubber molded onto them from the outside.

An observation: Raising the back of your key board (positive tilt) is probably not the optimum typing posture. Ideally you should have zero or slightly negative tilt to reduce strain and fatigue.

Many others can be found on line.

Ultimately, do what you feel is best for you.

I’m assuming you meant “without”. If so, yes, you can:

Not straight forward…but once you have things set up, it’s easy.
