Repeated Bluescreens - DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION - FW 13 AMD 7 350

Hello all,

I’ve got a FW 13 AI 7 350, and have been experiencing periodic bluescreens since I received it about a month ago. Running Windows 11 24H2. The behavior I’m seeing is I’ll be using the laptop, and suddenly the computer freezes. A minute or two later, it displays the standard Windows bluescreen with “DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION” stated as the error:

Doesn’t matter if I’m connect to power or not, and I’ve not identified any correlation to activities (I’m usually browsing the web when it happens, but that is likely because that is usually what I’m doing on my laptop). It is always when I am actively using the PC.

Looking at BluescreenView, it just points to ntoskrnl.exe, which seems to not really point to a specific cause?

I started out with installing Framework’s driver package when I initially set up the PC. Just a little bit ago, I went ahead and updated the AMD GPU driver (since I’d seen someone mention that appearing to fix this DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION BSOD for their previous-gen FW 13 AMD). Went from the version included with FW’s driver package up to 25.5.1. Had another BSOD a few minutes later.

Looking through the forums, I’m also seeing mention of this particular error message being triggered by using Wireguard when the PC goes to sleep (or comes out of sleep, I don’t recall) - I do use Wireguard, but it is usually not running (I don’t have it automatically start with Windows), and these crashes happen when I am using the computer.

Anyone have any thoughts on how to resolve this?

Thank you

Just replying to say I have the same issue with a recently purchased FW13. Sometimes I’ll go a day without it, other times it will happen 2 or 3 times in a single 1 hour session.

It doesn’t seem to matter if I’m using the framework provided driver package, or updated drivers from AMD. I primarily use Brave as my browser, like the OP, it usually happens while browsing the web and begins with a hard lock (sometimes preceded by stuttering performance) and then a BSOD with dpc watchdog violation.

I’m having this exact same issue as well. Using the updated BIOS version 3.04 along with the latest official Framework drivers for this laptop. It just freezes while using Microsoft Edge, and then restarts after some seconds have elapsed. Happens on a daily basis, pretty much.

Still persist this issue? I have a similar BSOD regarding AMD GPU, but only when idle:

Different BSOD error, and always happened when I was actively using it.

To anyone experiencing this issue, try updating to the latest (November 2025 release, as of time of writing) BIOS/driver package. I’ve been using my laptop pretty heavily this last month, and haven’t experienced it since December 6th - which was right before I updated to the latest Framework driver/BIOS package. Will reply to the thread if the BSODs return.

Ah, the timing… Had another one happen just now, so still not resolved. They’re just pretty spread out at this point.

Also having this problem, freeze and then within a few minutes BSOD and restart. Seems to happen more on battery power but also happens while plugged in. I’ll try updating drivers but have been having this issue since September with fully up to date drivers. Anyone find a fix yet?

Just wanted to say I have the same issue. my laptop details are FW 13 AI 7 350. ssd is corsair mp600 CSSD-F1000GBMP600ENH, ram is VENGEANCE DDR5 SODIMM 2x 16gb sticks. i can run memtest for days straight, like 20 passes, ok. Prime 95 memtest in windows i can only sometimes run for 12 hours sometimes.

Bios version latest at time of writing v3.05.

i read on a thread “Hi all. I was encountering BSODs, and found a solution (at least for me). Basically, they only happened on battery and when the PCI Express Link State Management was set to Maximum Power Savings on battery (the default). Since changing the setting to Moderate, I have had no further issues.

You need to open “Edit Power Plan”, then “Change Advanced Settings” and then modify the PCI Express setting.

maybe worth a try??
