Screen goes super dark - Fedora 42 AMD Ryzen Laptop 13

I am on Linux 6.16.7-200.fc42.x86_64 and Fedora 42 (Workstation) as well, but unfortunately I still have the issue.
I had to change my grub to set amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x10. I have one of the OG 13s, so many components are still original. The only new components are DDR, mainboard and chipset (AMD 300 series), and wifi card.

I’m now, since I started this thread, on kernel 6.16.7-200.fc42.x86_64 and Fedora 42.

I still have the issue

Which processor are you running?

I’m still running on the AMD 7840U.

Sounds like a processor problem to me then. Where AMD 300 series gives this problemo.

It’s been my experience that every hardware iteration takes a minute (figuratively of course) to become fully baked into Linux kernels. In my case, with the 7840u, everything was working fine until one update changed that. Dimming of the screen isn’t system breaking and more of a UX issue, still important nonetheless. I’m sure the new chips will see a fix, just how long till that fix, who knows.

Im on fedora 43, never had this issue before but suddenly started today even though i havent updated my laptop in a couple weeks. updated everything just to be sure. checked journalctl but no logs of anything wrong with gpu. issue persists though
