I’ve had a puffy battery before (Razer laptop in 2020 or so while evacuating Kabul lol) but I’m a bit surprised that there’s no notification or some sort of warning in Windows 11 since this is obviously a thing that keeps happening with so many different manufacturers.
It has nothing to do with software. This thing is a result of manufacturers using thin, pouch cells instead of cylindrical 18650/21700 cells, and charging them to higher and higher voltages.
Stop charging batteries to 100% and leaving them there. Limit it to 80% or lower. The reason it happens in laptops more than other devices is they tend to be plugged in to a charging source more often than a phone or tablet.
Consumers keep clamoring for longer lasting between charges so more and more manufacturers keep pushing the limits of physics and guess what wins?
At least this is an easily replaceable component in a laptop compared to other brands.
