Maybe it helps to start a new topic, since several questions in older ones were left unanswered. (Please just believe me, I don’t have the time to link to all of them.)
The official guide to optimize battery life in Ubuntu has instructions that include installing TLP. That works with the newest Ubuntu (24.04).
What doesn’t work is installing the TLPUI. I don’t understand what’s going on there, but likely something difficult to get for the casual Linux user – at any rate, the linuxuprising link that’s provided in the guide (and MANY other places) has no version that plays well with 24.04. (Apparently already not for 23.)
I looked around to see if the whole TLPUI project has been abandoned. It has not. It is here: https://github.com/d4nj1/TLPUI. From what I can tell, there now seems to be an AppImage and Flatpack version. Maybe ONLY? I don’t know. (Github is to me a land whose language I don’t understand.) Is there any way the guide could be updated, Matt? I’m making this appeal because I assume more people will follow the link in the main nav to get to that guide than spending hours digging through the community, which is – imho – a hot mess.
The other thing, though: Matt wrote in the Ubuntu 24.04 on the 13" laptop topic “Intel users may want to begin testing against TuneD.” But there were no answers when people asked what the deal with TuneD is. (And what a silly, unhelpful name – try finding anything about that online! “tuned” yeah right… ) Any further elaboration would be very much appreciated.
