I have the 11th generation DIY received in Nov 2021. I’m seeing some bending at the corners. Wondering if this is normal or seen by anyone else.

I have mine, [Batch 8] Feb 2022. I use it about six ours a day on a table, and carry it once a month for a few days. No sign of such a problem yet ?
Do you lift up the laptop on the corners instead of the middle area?

@Anachron has likely identified the cause of the bends, the chassis material is quite thin and easily bent. I feel for you because the middle point is not easy to grip at all.
If you are still in warranty contact support if not you might want to gently bend the screen back the other way (best to remove the LCD panel first) and avoid using the corners to open.

I have the laptop since September , so about 4 monthes.
And the case is already looking bad on one corner.
It was always in my back pack and didn t receive any major hit in my opinion. I was never like “damned it felt down, lets look at it and see if it is damaged”
I am not known to be carfull with laptps… I have a thinkapd E590 for 3 years and rolled over it while falling with my electric skatboard…
Also this hit you can see is just from having it on my back pack…not much hit than just putt…
I would like to suggest a stronger aluminum frame. I come to this conclusion because, while obliviously not paying attention, I set my laptop on the floor, opening it so it would not topple over, but this time I placed it in the path of my recliner chair and its foot piece bent the screen, but, thankfully, the damage is only cosmetic. I have carelessly done this to other laptops and they did not bend. Of course the obvious solution is for me to wake up and note my surroundings, but your current …
Hi guys, I have a Framework 11th gen, which I upgraded to a 12th mainboard. I Always had a slight bend in the input cover and I would like to know, if thats normal. I was in batch 1 in germany, if that matters.
I added a picture, to show it. It isnt a huge bend, but it is visible while working on the machine, as there is the straight line of the display behind it.

The keys are working, just the surface isn’t flat. It’s more noticeable when seeing with eyes, but the picture somehow shows they don’t line up straight.
The battery is on the opposite side. The F-keys are actually above the CPU and stuff.
I can see the aluminum shell being bent, but it’s hard to capture on camera.
Is this a known issue?

Maybe you can post soem images so ‘we’ can see the degree, but no, nothing bent on my V1 Btach 8
How long have you had the laptop and when did you notice it, it’s not like this can just happen without external force?
I was curious if anyone else noticed this problem. I’ve seen complaints about wobbly hinges, but my Framework doesn’t have wobbly hinges. Well, the moving part of the hinge (pin + knuckle) doesn’t wobble, it requires a decent amount of force to rotate.
What causes wobbling for me is that the entire top cover assembly flexes quite a bit. When opening or closing it, the top cover bends by about 1cm (measured at the top of the screen), before the hinge starts to rotate.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I often walk around my apartment with my laptop held in one hand, by the front right corner. No other laptops I’ve used have had any problems with this. But with the framework, this seems to flex the frame enough that it causes the touchpad to get clicked from behind.
The results of this are usually not too consequential. Maybe a video pauses itself. Or another application gets focused. But it’s a mild annoyance that I haven’t experienced with Thinkpads…
Basically what the title says. If the right lower corner of my laptop is off the edge of a table or not completely in my lap and the heel of my hand is pressing down on it just enough to flex the chassis, it automatically depresses the lower left corner of the touchpad and causes random clicks.

I took my framework out of my bag today (just reached one year) and the physical click of the touchpad didn’t work. I noticed that the chassis had a very slight (1mm bend). The touchpad can take literally no tolerance of bend in the chassis without it getting blocked by the battery. Combined with a very bendy chassis and it inevitably will end up blocked after long term use.
To fix it take the top cover off and remove the battery. Then brute force bend the front chassis inward to undo the bend…
