I’ve done some experimentation with my FW 16 on using ectool to override that 90% limit, just to see if this would help me avoid battery drain (and it does). This seems to work fine on my unit for a short period of time, however after about 30-60 minutes or so (from memory) during heavy load, that override seems to become unstable and the safety cutoffs will kick in, resetting the connection to the PSU. This, I imagine, is not surprising to you (nor me). I suspect the fact that it’s stable for a period of time before that however may be related to some component on the board heating up and losing either efficiency or accuracy… but I am not an expert in power delivery.
Is there any chance that I might be able to stabilize a higher current by actively cooling a component that’s heating up? If so, would you be willing to help me identify that component on the FW 16 (7040HS) board?
