We unfortunately don’t have any stock left for the translucent bezels, they became temporarily available for the limited stock that we have earlier this year but we don’t have it anymore.

I noticed the same thing. Alex from LTT is lucky. My 12th gen 13" will be waiting. My hope is that FW will release limited edition bezels in the future for the 13". Maybe a tie-die or recycled plastic bezel (LTT bezel anyone!).
How about a translucent coloured one ???
dbrand did make those transparent plates for the PS4, like the old gameboy style. I wonder if they can make after market bezels with similar material.

This is typical of new parts; they’re available on new laptop purchases first then they’re available in the market once preorders are filled and they’re not backed up anymore. Unless I’m mistaken this has been the case for other new things that were introduced with new models like the 2.8k screen, the 61wh battery, etc.
I imagine this is for a couple reasons: first would be to ensure that they have the ability to fulfill new orders without having to restrict configurations, and also to gauge how popular an item might be so that they know what kind of inventory they need to keep. In addition to that, new machines are all shipped from Taiwan whereas parts are typically shipped from a local warehouse, so even if they had some inventory they’ll need to distribute them to their local warehouses before you’re able to order them as parts.
Also note that preorders aren’t even shipping until April, so you’re going to have to wait a bit anyway.
That said, it’s been 24 hours since the announcement and they’re only on batch 2 for preorders for the 13 inch. If I remember correctly, the 16 launch was at least on batch 5/6 or so by the next day; I tried ordering right after launch and only managed to get into Batch 2, and that was within the first hour of it being available. My point is that you probably won’t have to wait very long after they start shipping preorders before you’re able to order this on its own.
Speaking of, does anyone have any photos of the new translucent bezels when fitted by any chance?
Only the one in the presentation video. Give them half a chance to actually get them into production.
Yeah, I just thought they might have had them on display at the event and someone might have got a pic was all.
Dude, they were talking about limited availability almost a full year ago. This new announcement and availability is separate.

It’s listed in the marketplace but you can’t actually add it to your cart and buy it yet; you can only have them email you when it’s available to order. As I said, it probably won’t actually be available to order separately until they run through the batches for the new models.

I signed up for emails and I’m very much looking forward to some transparent bezels and expansion cards! It’ll be worth the wait.

That would be pretty frustrating… I understand the need to draw in new customers, but giving them an advantage over existing customers for such parts would be unfair… and I hope that’s not the route Framework would take.
that’s the case for all parts except for certain mainboards/displays we have shipped via pre-orders. hard to tell right now but I don’t think there won’t be a big time difference between the pre-order shipments and individual part shipments on the marketplace.

I feel it would have been fairer to open pre-orders for all the new items at the same time.
I want folks to enjoy their new laptops but I’ll be a bit miffed if everyone is posting images of new laptops with translucent accessories and the marketplace shows out of stock.
This sort of release strategy fuels fomo, imo.

I tried seeing if support would manually let me order one, they will not. Come on transparent bezels! That purple one is calling my name.
