I am owning now a FW12 since around 3 months. So far i am really loving it.
only issue i have is that sometimes the keystrokes are not registerd when i type fast. Anyone else having this issue ? (especcially when i type words with “mm” it sometimes registers only one “m”)
the keyboard got already replaced by FW team in a very professional way. Unfortunately after some days the same issue came up again. So i am thinking that this must have todo something with the hardware or the missing n-keyrollover (i am just guessing here - i am no keyboard expert or so)
I noticed it only registers up to 2 keys at once. Found that out by trying to hold shift+w to run in a game and then hitting space to jump and it didn’t work.
I’ve never had a keyboard that maxed out at 2 keys before, but here we are.
Yes - I just came to the forum to see if anyone else was having this issue. I type quite a bit, and thought it was me. Is this a known keyboard ‘feature’?
not really sure about that. But that keyboard annoys me already because my keystrokes are often not registering. And i wanted to use this laptop for writing…
So i really hope framework will update the keyboard soon because i like the laptop in general a lot. In the meantime i will write on a used HP Dragonfly laptop…
Yes - they let me return it. And if they replace the keyboard and it’s NKRO and back lit - I’ll buy it again. it’s not bad to type on when it registers all the keystrokes.
I got my fw12 a few months back and only last month finally had time to get it set up for a job, noticed immediately the missed keystroke issues when installing the OS, and they persisted throughout my entire time using it. For me as a programmer, at my typing speed, it makes the laptop functionally unusable. Really hoping there’s a fix for this! Gonna drop a line to support when I get a chance, interesting to see others having this issue.
I was surprised to see the FW12 keyboard in the new HTPC keyboard because my typing results on the FW12 are really not great. I hope it’s indeed something that can be fixed in software.
I am assuming they went with that matrix to begin with because they got them relatively cheap from a production line that makes chromebook keyboards (at least that’s the only way I can explain why they chose a matrix that flawed). So if they actually need a large enough volume for the 12 they may be able to persuade them to modify the production line.
But at least in the case of the 12 as the keyboard comes with it’s own controller they could change matrix without any compatibility issues. (Changing the matrix on the 13 would be more of a pain as you’d need to update the ex with the new matrix and if you plugged in the old one it would work very weirdly)
na lets see - currently I am not sure what todo with the device… I type a lot and it does not deliver… so either I wait, I sell it or I use it with an external keyboard…
overall I really like the device - this is why it is a pitty that the keyboard is not fully functionally for my needs despite it was already replaced once…
… so I sold my FW12 now even though I really liked it. But keys not registering while typing made me crazy. This is a no go. Hope one day they fix this. Until then I need to rely on other products.
I also get this issue when typing quickly. For more reliable typing, I have to use an external keyboard when I’m at my desk and I have a USB port available.
One thing I noticed is that my specific keys are not working from time to time in certain positions when using the laptop. Even my touch pad stops working. I had to open my keyboard cover and check that the POGO pins on the bottom are making proper contacts, it may also be because the keyboard is slightly warped so that it loses contact with the POGO pins.
