Does this mean that Ubuntu is officially supported now? It’s not listed on this page yet: https://frame.work/at/en/desktop?tab=linux

Ubuntu 25.10 works great on my desktop except WiFi disconnects due to (apparently) wpa_supplicant deadlocking when connecting to my Dream Router. I had to switch to iwd, but now it runs flawlessly.

They also moved their Steam snap to Core 24 on the beta channel, so gaming is also great.

They released an install document for us so I guess that means they just haven’t updated that page. I was planning on installing Fedora when my desktop gets here, but my familiarity is with Ubuntu, so if that’s a match, then I would likely go that way. I’ll have to mull on this while I wait.

I’m running Ubuntu 25.10 since the first day I got my Desktop (batch 10). Was just wondering if they would officially support it. Would have guessed they might wait until 26.04 LTS since thats not that long away too. Was just curious what’s up with releasing an official guide without officially supporting the distro. But as you said - could just be that they did not find the time to update the product page yet.

So far no problems with 25.10. AMD drivers improved a lot for AI usage - normal graphics always worked fine. No experience with gaming though.

Did install the cpufreqk kernel module manually, as that seems to improve idle from around 12 to around 8 - 9-ish Watts. Don’t remember where I saw that recommendation. Most likely in the Strix Halo AI Homelab Wiki.

Thanks for mentioning that. I’ll check that out. My desktop arrived sooner than I anticipated. I saw that AMD lists Ubuntu as supported, so I decided to go ahead with that. I have an Nvidia Orin Nano so that distro is familiar to me. It’s amusing that the FW Desktop post-installation instructions for installing an OS take you to a page that says Framework and Ubuntu are two great tastes that go great together, yet that page listed above doesn’t show it. I’m currently installing it now.

FYI: Ubuntu has completely removed the X11 GNOME session in 25.10 - it’s not even available as a package anymore. Normally, I’ve been supportive of the continued push toward Wayland, but that was before I learned about the Wayland/GNOME/GTK vs. wxWidgets drama.

I’m not sure why this wasn’t as much of an issue for me before, but KiCad and PrusaSlicer are unusable in GNOME now. This really sucks when you’re in the mood to get things done, not learn a whole new desktop environment - or even switch to a new distro at this rate.
