We’re sorry about the mistake. If you received a Framework Laptop 16 Mainboard, you’re welcome to keep it, or you can reach out to our support team and we will allow for a return and full refund as an exception.
Due to an internal mix-up, we incorrectly listed the product as a Framework Laptop 13 Mainboard Mystery Box, despite there being a mix of Framework Laptop 13 and Framework Laptop 16 Mainboards in the inventory. Going forward, we’ll be creating a Framework Laptop 16 Mainboard Mystery Box in addition to the Framework Laptop 13 Mainboard one and ensuring the inventory is clearly separated.
Well I know that the Mystery Boxes has mainboards that are not supposed to work, or the board level fixes are beyond economical repair. The mystery being how to repair them. Technical users out there would be happy to spend time on them, and fix them for themselves.
For example, have one faulty mainboard to be the donor board for another mainboard, resulting in one working board.
So, maybe change the mystery a bit.
Have the faulty mainboard, and the fault description, and then people can choose which faulty boards to have, based on the fault description, because faults that point towards different problems, may combine to become one working board.
It might save FW a bit of time if they don’t bother putting the “fault description” in the box with the faulting mainboard, but just have a web page, where the user types in the serial number of the mainboard, and it returns the anonymized fault report details.
