Hi, I’m a field engineer.
The FW13 is going to be for private use though.
My current laptop is going to run Linux after I get my FW and the FW is going to run Win 11.
Really looking forward to the future and the ability to swap out broken parts or upgrade as needed.
Hi all!
Fine Artist here moving on from a 2013 macbook pro and the apple ecosystem.
Really happy to be part of the Framework community!
Moved abroad to for studies and had to leave my gaming pc but really priveliged to own a framework that’s still unavailable from my home (Singapore). I’ve always been a tinkerer and tech enthusiast.
Bought the FW 13 Intel 13th gen DIY edition for creative use and AI art with an egpu. Maxed it out with 64GB and 4TB and I’ve never been happier.
Power to the consumer!
What’s up? I’m stoked to finally make it to the Framework community forum!
My name is Gejnemin (pronounced Gen-eh-min) [he/him] I am a consumer tech & Cybersecurity enthusiast! I am also a fan of video games of all kinds, going on hikes, and all sorts of fun stuff.
I am a part of the AMD Batch 4 of laptops, which I am very excited to get delivered soon!
Thank you for taking the time to read. Connect with me via my social links below www.gejnem.in/links
Program manager at NCSA, always interested in computing advances and a modular laptop is just that. Have an order in for FW16 in Batch12. Really looking forward to it.
3D Mechanical designer, overall tech enthusiast. I am currently working on my Google cyber security cert and studying for Sec+, and I do web-design with friends for a little side hustle. I am excited about the FW 16 and hoping to order one soon.
Hi!
I am a german software dev mostly for JVM based languages. I bought a framework because i like the idea of repairing things instead of throwing them away so i bought an AMD model since all my computer run on AMD, just like all of them run on Fedora.
I am a retired university administrator approaching my 70th trip around the sun in January.
I bought the Framework 13 DIY, which brought back memories of my first computer a CompuAdd 286 which you also had to install the memory (512 kilobytes), hard drive (20 MB), and install the operating system (MS-DOS). I have to say things have come a long way.
This laptop is replacing a Toshiba Chromebook purchased in 2015 which I had installed Ubuntu on after Google stopped supplying security updates for the Chrome OS on the Chromebook. I ran into problems installing Fedora 38 on a USB drive using Fedora’s Media Writer but Etcher had no problem creating the bootable USB. I am loving this laptop and the fact that is not made to be a disposable item after five years.
Hi all, student-worker here, currently on a 2016 semi upgraded desktop and a similarly aged laptop wondering if I should update my desktop or get a new laptop.
I took interest in FW about two years back.
But back then, it couldn’t deliver orders here.
So I gave up FW and waited for a M3 MacBook Air.
With great timing, FW notified me that Taiwan is now able to receive orders.
While M3 MBA is still no where to be seen.
My ordered specs are in batch 9 guild.
I had light gaming in mind, so I really struggled in choosing from FW 13 or 16.
I chose 13 because it is sooner, more portable and is capable to connect e-gpu later on.
Hello!
Ill honestly admit i found Framework via LTT’s youtube a long while ago, and have simply followed the dev for a while.
Im a Systems security engineer for a R&D/V2X company and have been in the sec field for 10+ years
I recently was given a budget to replace my system and was allowed to get a non-standard system as my daily ( I use a Dell and a Macbook m1 as my work systems ) and decided to go with Framework. my hope is its reliable, and has the modularity to be upgraded over time so i have it far longer than our standard rotation (3 years )
I went with AMD because its a personal preference, though with a modular system, maybe in 3 years ill want intel?
Outside of work i do 3D printing/3D design, and content creation as hobbies + offensive sec research for my own personal growth, so im hoping i can utilize the framework as a platform for that as well.
Glad to be a part of the community. I look forward to getting to know some of you
I am new and I am looking forward to receiving my new laptop. I will be using the machine for my work on the Floyd County Electoral Board. Our IT lead recommendation went a long way to making my choice.
I look forward to learning form this community.

Hi gang!
Got an email on Monday from Framework that I should expect my laptop soon!
Can’t wait.
Heard about company for some time, but wasn’t looking for new laptop really.
This has changed couple months ago, was waiting for apple’s m3 mac and thanks to their greed I’m now happily awaiting my new laptop from Framework.
It will be mainly used to get back to front-end coding, that i used to do and hopefully some programming after that - and occasional video watching etc.
Feels good to be part of this community even though i still don’t have the laptop
Hello!! I am a high school student hoping to pursue a career in data science after college, after lots of looking for a laptop before i set off for college though i needed an upgrade and the Framework laptop really seemed like the move. I recently ordered it but it’s yet to arrive BUT i am eagerly waiting until friday (December 1st) as it should arrive by then!! I already started posting asking question about the laptop and realized there was an introduction thread. Currently I’ve been learning Python in my own free time and taking some college courses in my school, I’d hope to finish college with an Applied Mathematics degree and a good grasp of Python and R.
I work in IT and I’ve been very high on Framework since I first heard about it. It’s almost time for me to retire my gaming laptop and tower, but I’m definitely getting a Framework next. I’m still a little nervous about being a relatively early adopter of the AMD, so I’m just keeping an eye on reddit and the forums here to see what issues people are facing, but I am more than reassured at how open Framework has been about bugs and actively working with the community in fixing things.
I still haven’t fully decided whether I’m going with the 13 or 16, though, so that is also weighing on my decision.
I’m Roops, and I recently got a FW 13 (13th gen Intel). It’s exactly what I wanted, and the only real problem* I have is deciding which OS to run!
The hardware is top notch.
I may end up with Fedora Linux, with Windows 8.1 (for some legacy applications) in a VM under Boxes.
But I might try Ubuntu before I settle.
*minor annoyances with Fedora are the lack of fingerprint sensor, and the GUI version of DNF behaves oddly–at first it started as an almost invisible vertical line (window of zero width) and now it resizes its columns, so half the useful info is off-screen to the right.
Hey hey people! I’m Jansi - or Heather, if you want - and I’m new to Framework! Looks like a pretty nifty product, so I’m going to keep perusin’ and consider it for a future purchase. For now, I’ll drift around as part of the community. I actually found Framework from a LinkedIn job posting!
Matteo here, i work as a janitor in Italy, i’m a ham radio operator, a biologist, a counsellor and i’m intrested in both old and new tech.
I saw Framework on LTT, i’ve saved some money and now a new happy owner of a framework laptop 13 AMD, DIY edition, which i run with manjaro linux KDE. Hopefully as my daily driver.
I’m Kenny, I make software for my job and want a device I can repair myself. I’ve also wanted a power-efficient AMD laptop since 2006 and one with a high-DPI screen since 2015. I repaired a bunch of retina MacBook Pro’s while stuck at home during the 2020 global pandemic and hope to have a new computing home with contemporary CPU power as soon as my batch-10 AMD Framework 13 arrives.
Very happy to accept repairability and higher prices as a trade-off for the freedom to tinker. (I’m a GNU/Linux user, following the Linux threads because Debian is the Universal Operating System.)
