I am a long time windows user looking into dual booting my laptop. I have a lot of experience with servers running ubuntu 20.04 but I have never actually used Linux with a gui (except for the occasional use of kali live usbs). I’m a bit overwhelmed by the amount of distros there are to choose from and because of that I have been planning on just setting up kali as my second OS but I don’t like the UI and I don’t think I would ever use it.

Do you have any recommendations for distros I should use?

If you know Ubuntu Server then I would go with Ubuntu desktop. Personally I am running Ubuntu with the XFCE desktop.

Agree with the above, if you’re already familiar with Ubuntu, then you should probably go with Ubuntu.

If you’re interested in trying another distro (for fun or whatever), I personally use Fedora Atomic (formerly Fedora Silverblue) which works well on my FW16!
