So, I’d like to connect my Framework Desktop build to WiFi.
Question is: Which card is recommendable?
Intel BE200 - probably won’t work. At all.
Mediatek 7925 - is lacking the 320 MHz bands in the 6 GHz area
Mediatek 7927 - still seems to be unsupported in the current kernel.
Qualcomm QCNCM865 - seems to have problems of its own.
So, what to do? Go for Qualcomm? Use an 7925 and swap it out for a 7927 when (if?) it gets supported?
I’m using the MT7925 across multiple linux machines and it’s been a perfectly fine experience. I’d go with that and only look for upgrades wehn and if you have wifi hardware that actually supports those newer features and you find your wifi performance is not suitable for what you want to be doing.
Using it with arch, no problems so far, at least with Wifi6 (I have no Wifi7 hardware). Which is a huge improvement over the default mediatek card the AMD 7040 Framework 13” came with.
honestly, looking everywhere on the internet, users are saying the Qualcomm QCNCM865 sometimes works, sometimes buggs (uploading and so on).
Also, I’m using fedora linux (as you also used the category - I wonder if people have noticed it) –> I’m also open eyes to see for a card that works on fedora linux wo problems
