Adding a USB-A card while the machine is running takes up an extra 10mW, while adding it during sleep (deep, haven’t tested with s2idle specifically) takes up hundreds of miliwatts (300-500mW).

Do we have reliable data on the difference between idle and s2idle for USB-A?

This post seems to suggest that the issues with USB-A disappear in s2idle: [TRACKING] High Battery Drain During Suspend - #64 by KiptonK But @Nils’ reports (what you list as previous work) seem to contradict this.
