I think it really depends on what you will use it for.
At my opinion you have these options:
- USB4 egpu or adaptor like ADT-UT3G: Pcie 4x4 but no reverse power for framework
- TB3/4 egpu or adaptor like TH3P4G3: Pcie 3x4 with reverse charging and usb ports for extra stuff (handy when you only want a single cable to plug in)
- Oculink 8i kit for framework: Pcie 4x8 no reverse charging but displayport input for internal display (You dont waste bandwith on your pcie when using internal display over egpu)
- Oculink 4i kit for framework: Pcie 4x4 no reverse charging but additional m2 slot
- m2 to oculink adaptor: pcie 4x4 but why should you waste that slot if you can use your otherwise unused pcie connection.
I personally look forward for the Oculink 8i kit to be released (not by framework itself Thread) since the TB3/4 is to slow i think, and If you already use one cable for charging and another one for egpu, why then dont take the fastest.
It is to mention that removing an oculink egpu from a running system will most likely result on a bluescreen in windows
