1 TB expansion card consume 5w

1TB expansion card consume crazy amount of power representend by powertop, much more then the whole computer. And it is not very stable, often I have to remount it or restart. Do anyone else has similar issues, and how did you solved them?

Porpoise of my expansion card is purely for backup, and it look now silly to keep it attached all the time because of this huge power consumption .

Go with microSD cards if speed isn’t too much of a concern.

This seems alright considering it’s a high speed SSD

You could use these instructions and also the answer from here to apply those rules without rebooting.

MicroSD cards are also very unreliable. Can have a lot of data corruption.
