FW16 psu and battery interactions

I have a FW16 AMD. Latest BIOS 3.0.5 Some observations. battery limit set in bios to 80%. psu plugged in. battery at 80%. bios battery limit changed 60% psu plugged in and laptop powered on. What should one expect to see when the FW16 is without a dGPU? I expected: with the psu plugged in, I expected the battery to stay at 80%, and only when the psu was unplugged that it would drop to below 60% when the psu is plugged in again, it charge up to 60% limit. What happend: with the psu plug…

It happens in low load situations, and when suspended. I have not checked what it does when powered off, but I expect the same as when suspended.

I am in the process of trying to understand the way too complex EC source code.

I just force the ec charge to idle mode, to at least mitigate it while switched on.

I don’t understand the use case as to why the EC disconnects the psu. I cannot think of any reason why that would be useful. Any ideas?
