To save battery life, Framework, or the community could design dummy expansion cards that do not draw power from the device. Realistically, you are probably not going to use all four ports at a given time, so why waste the power? They would look like the storage expansion cards, with the male port made out of plastic.
This would be especially helpful to people on the go without immediate outlet access and save them the hassle of lugging a power bank with them.
