Just curious. Have you all gotten emails from Framework about being charged, or are you just seeing the charge on your bank/card?

It is funny to see so many people being happy because they’ve been charged  However, I am looking forward to that as well (Batch 5).

I have a question for those who have been charged. Did you have the option to choose how to pay or the payment has been taken as per the original payment (the pre-order)?

I haven’t been charged yet. Totally happy for everyone who has been, and really seriously not jealous. Absolutely no way am I jealous.

Batch 4 got an email last week, telling us our batch was being prepared soon, and everyone to check payment listed in your pre-order to make sure it was up to date, as that was payment they would use when the order was available to ship.

No, its not the payment used in pre-order, its the payment method in your profile. In my case they are different, because when i pre-ordered i had no credit card yet, so i had to use the one from a friend. Dont be confused, the payment method in your order is not updated, but Framework will use the updated one configured in your profile.

Charged as well.
And my SSD and RAM came today, but Amazon send me some DDR4 DIMM RAM.
Thats kinda hilarious because I currently can not even buy the model they send me on their site

Ah, the joys of dealing with Amazon’s inventory system screwups. I dealt with that a while back on a different item category all together. Kept getting the wrong item. After several attempts I had to just ask for a refund, because they couldn’t get me the correct item.

I haven’t been charged yet, but I’m keeping an eye out for email notifications.

One thing that’s worth noting (and I can’t find a reference to this on hand, but someone from FW has definitely said it) is that order date is not necessarily indicative of batch progress; it depends on the options you have chosen.

That is indeed what happened for the very first batches of 11th Gen Intel CPU’s. Similar configurations were grouped together and shipped. Another factor was what components were available to include.

Why did you choose this particular storage? Question only out of curiosity, do not consider it derogatory.
There are better ones for the same price out there, eg. Samsung 980 pro, Kingston Fury renegade, Crucial P3/P5 Plus

I ordered May 23rd, and no charge yet.

Ryzen 7 7840U, DIY, no RAM or SSD,black bezel.

Next to my desk, I have my NVME drive, RAM, extra Framework expansion cards, a Rufus created Windows 11 installer to bypass online account creation, and I’ve downloaded the latest Framework AMD 13 driver and BIOS update packages. …just one thing missing.

EDIT: Forgot, I even ordered a Dbrand skin! It’s not obvious I’m excited about this purchase, is it…?

Was charged for R5 with body to Germany, originally on 19 May 2023

So they don’t charge based on the number of times I’ve refreshed my emails and bank account today… shame

Mainly efficiency, price, and temperature. Im using FW13 mainly as a media device and maybe some very light gaming. I dont need the maxinum performance to shave off a couple seconds and there arent any applications where I would save minutes from the extra speed.

P31 Gold has better perf/watt. Now arguably saving a few watts wont save that much more battery life or reduce temps that much, but additionally it is a bit cheaper than the 980 Pro. It’s a drive that comes from a reputable company, with good endurance, great efficiency, and good price.

One thing to remember is that new faster drives may not necessarily be more efficient, cheaper, or have as good of temperature management.

The Kingston Fury Renegade for example is a relatively inefficient drive. The winner of the pcie 4 generation of m.2 ssds, in my opinion, for efficiency is the Teamgroup MP44.

Edit: I actually got the P31 Gold a few months back. If you want a really efficient drive with a little more performance than the P31, then the Teamgroup MP44 is the choice. It is even cheaper and has better endurance.
