Have now been charged (last hour or so). No email yet.

Man i wanted to go POP_os but because this is a work machine first i opted for Fedora. how does POP run? i can still change

So far no issues- I do have to set up the fingerprint reader but I will look into that late.

Charged in the last hour or so. (UK) I was guess 7 days to the hour of the prep email, I was 2 hours out…

Cautiously optimistic.

I’ve been running a i7-1165G7 in an accidentally very nice ASUS with an OLED for the last few years, and it’s just at the sticky keys, slightly worn tipping point, and lack of RAM and the ever increasing monster that Chrome has become that needs feeding.

Fortunately I’ve moved over to Fedora in a dual boot for a few years to really kick the tyres, but I cheat with a NUC I remote too for anything specfically windowsy (looking at you Adobe and Office).

My main reservation is the screen the screen, but I’m hoping the 3:2 out weights the perfect blacks and 2ms response time… :grimacing:

I’m Batch 10 poking my head in to see if y’all shipped yet. I’m so jealous, on a side tangent anyone tried Arch yet?

I intend to use Arch on this machine, I’ll post back how that goes when it arrives.

Sounds awesome thank you kindly, I was debating between Debian, Arch, and Gentoo, and decided on Arch, if Arch doesn’t go well for you (although I hope it does) I probably will end up going with Debian.

Hope that goes well for you, using it for Uni myself so hoping it doesn’t give me too much trouble. Once I get it though I’m gonna probably spend an entire week fiddling and I already know I’m gonna need clones of my OS lol

I received my Ryzen 7 7840U DIY build today, installed Kingston Fury DDR5 5600 16 GB x 2, WD SN850X 1 TB, and Windows 11 - and all is going very well. Love it!

The only issue I had was with installing the bezel - the lower left got caught in the hinge of the top cover, damaging the bezel slightly. I would recommend people be very careful with this step, ensuring that the cables from the top cover to the chassis are not in the way when installing the bezel. Also, watch those captive screws, which can clip the bezel when closing the top cover.

I am now all setup…mostly. All the tweaking comes over the next few days.

Installed
2x 32GB RAM
2TB NVMe
And replaced the wifi card with an AX210

Dual boot install of both Windows 11 and Fedora has been complete with both fully operational.

wait, there is Arch.

be mindful for the wifi card (AMD RZ616).

forum is reporting connection drops and slow transfer.

one question: do we need to flash bios (or is it the latest out of factory?)
