I am having two issues with my Framework 13. I recently (last week) updated the BIOS and drivers from the Framework website. Since then I have repeatedly received an error message: “AMD Bug Report Tool: AMD software detected that a driver timeout has occurred on your system. An issue report has been created that can be sent to AMD to help is improve our software. Would you like to report this issue?”
Would is be OK to update the AMD drivers from the AMD Software Adrenalin Edition App? My version is 25.10.2. The new version would be 26.1.1.
The second issue, which also started after the BIOS and driver udpates, is that the trackpad becomes unresponsive. Sometimes the computer crashes, but sometimes it the trackpad starts working again after a period of time.
I appreciate any thoughts on what is going on, and what I should do next to troubleshoot these issues.
Having similar problems. Been running my Framework 13 AI 300 series laptop for about 6 months now on a Dell dock and a laptop stand with integrated fan. For the last week now my laptop randomly blacks out after a few hours then comes back with the AMD bug report tool complaining about a driver timeout.
In reference to your question – I downloaded the latest Radeon driver package from AMD’s website and did a clean install (selected the factory reset option) and the issue persists.
I thought i’d be better served going back to the original driver pack on Framework’s website but it seems like in your case that doesn’t make a difference – updating or staying on old drivers results in the same outcome.
Wondering if my laptop is faulty or if Framework is aware of this.
@RB11 - My apologies for taking a while to get back to you. I’ve been working through the issues with Framework support. I won’t go through everything we’ve tried (I opened up the computer twice), but I will say that I am hopeful that the most recent attempt at a fix - reallocating more RAM to the GPU in the BIOS - may have been successful. The issue wasn’t predictable to me, so I’m going to give it a while longer to declare it resolved, but I made this change on Sunday (3 days ago) and so far so good.
iGPU Memory Configuration: Changed from Auto → Custom
iGPU Memory Size: Changed from 0.5GB → 4GB
I encourage you to reach out to support if you haven’t already. They’ve been very responsive.
