I was wondering if anyone in the community has tried washing the keyboard modules in the dishwasher?
It would be quite convenient, wouldnt it?
I mean. I’ve done it with some old nasty Dell keyboards, but not sure I’d be willing to do that with these.
this makes me question what you did to need to ask this question more than whether the keyboard is actually dishwasher safe…
I wouldn’t do it although it could??? be okay if you let it fully dry
I’d try to clean it with a toothbrush and support the keys that are being cleaned under; that will be much more effective than a dishwasher
I personally prefer to hand wash my computers and air dry them
jokes aside, as far as I know, the keyboard is not dishwasher safe.
correct answer!!
Cold wash, no detergent let us know the results!
I have put a Microsoft Internet keyboard through the dishwasher, but that is a unit where the electronics can be removed from the plate that has all the keytops on it.
I certainly wouldn’t want to do it with a Framework keyboard.
Washing ones hands more often is a solution to almost never having to “clean” the keyboard.
If a user regularly gets their hands dirty then has to use the computer before cleaning up, consider wearing gloves that can be removed.
Disposable gloves are great for this though not as environmentally friendly if that is concerning to someone.
If the keycaps could be removed and replaced more easily, it would be a lot easier to clean.
At the moment, probably an engineering vacuume is the best option. All I mean by engineering vacuume is a small nozzle with a filter so it easy to retrieve items you did not wish to vacuume.
The next would be a distilled water bath.
, but that also needs a good drying solution.
A terrible idea… even if you use no detergent (and make sure the dishwasher has no salt or rinse-aid in it) the water that is plumbed in from your house main supply will be full of minerals which are likely to aid in corrosion and conductivity. 0/10 - would not recommend.
