Anyone using Intel ME / AMT / VPro management features on their Framework 13?

I’ve spent days working on this and at this point need to know if anyone is using the AMT/Intel ME features sucessfully on the Framework Laptop 13?

The feature I really need is the SOL (serial console feature) but this post applies to all vPro/Remote management features.

Everything i’m meant to be able to do after setting the AMT password and enabling things in F10 at boot fails. There are meant to be ports open which AMT/ME intercepts when a vPro compatible Wifi card is used, they dont.

I’ve even tried setting up the OpenAMT management system from Intel to enrol the device and hope it unlocks some functionality, the device enrols but then never connects.

One thing i’m wondering is the Wired vs Wireless functions of vPro/AMT seem to point out in the documentation that wireless may not work in some situations where wired will, however, we don’t have access to the onboard Intel Core ethernet controller/port on the framework (my understanding is the Wired ethernet module, which I also own, is just a USB module not some clever passthru to the Intel CPU and it’s builtin gigE port?).

Out of desperation, any suggestions/known working usecases of the vPro/AMT/ME stuff would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Matt

So, yes! This one I actually do have experience with.

I have two i7-1185G7 mainboards, one of which currently has AMT set up.

IDE redirection works, as does remote KVM; I have not yet gotten SoL to work, but I don’t expect it to be an issue.

It was fiddly to set up.

I heard a rumor once that the networking stack in Linux prevents packets to the AMT port from escaping the OS and hitting the NIC, so you are somewhat unable to complete the last mile of local configuration.

Intel’s documentation about AMT (PDF) suggests that this is a known issue.

I got through setting up AMT for proper remote access using Windows; it now works fine regardless of the operating system.
