Hi there!
Fellow Austrian here.
A friend of mine who lives in Germany will forward it to me.
I’ve gone with the i7-1165G7, 2x8GB’s of RAM, no OS and Hard Drive, because I have a Samsung 980 EVO 1TB lying around and will be using Linux.
More specifically Kubuntu, Manjaro KDE or EndeavourOS KDE. (will have to test it out on the machine to see which one I go with)
Maybe I’ll later add a 250GB storage expansion card and’ll install Windows 10 onto it, but this is just for school as we’ll probably need to use AutoCAD next year, and running it in a Virtual Machine is no option.
Best luck with everyone else’s experience in the EU with this fabulous thing!
Another batch 8’er here! I maxed out pretty much everything, but kept just 1TB for the drive as that’s plenty, and more I find parodoxically worse because backups become more complicated. Other than that, I can’t wait! Find it amusing that my laptop now has twice the RAM (64GB) as my desktop!
Just placed my Batch 8 order that will be forwarded with Huifkar to The Netherlands from Germany (Total of 62,50 euros extra, 40 handling and 22,50 insured shipping). Went with DIY i7. Going to use the 32GB ram and 1TB 970 EVO from my current laptop, going to go with Fedora definitely, now those 2 months will start to feel very long.
Hey guys! French guild member here, I can’t wait to finally get my hand on a framework laptop!
i5
2x8Go RAM
1To WD_Black 850
2x USB-C
2x USB-A
1x HDMI
1x 250GB Storage
I might have overestimated my extension card needs haha. The plan is to run windows on the SSD and test / learn to use linux distros on the 250GB Storage module. I’ll probably do the switch to only linux later!
Took a lot of thinking but eventually went for:
Intel i7-1165G7
Bring your own RAM (will probably do 2x16GB)
Bring your own Storage (probably 1TB PCIE Gen 4)
British English keyboard
Framework Power Supply (don’t really need it, but it never hurts to have a spare USB-C power supply around!)
Expansion card wise I’ve probably gone a bit over the top with;
3x USB-C
1x USB-A
1x DisplayPort
1x HDMI
1x MicroSD
It’ll almost certainly go straight to Windows 11 Pro I think
Just have to wait till February now I guess! Exciting!
Finally something worth upgrading to from a Surface Pro 4…
Edit: Has anyone else noticed that on the order confirmation email, taxes and duties is reported as zero? It definitely said in multiple places that VAT was included in the pricing when I ordered. I’ll be mighty unhappy if I have a gigantic VAT bill to pay when it gets into the country!
Also opted for 1x USB-C, 2x USB-A and DisplayPort. I was thinking about getting an i7 variant, but I guess I will just wait until there are some interesting Ryzen or Alder Lake Mainboards available.
Hello from Germany, I was waiting a long time and now it is finaly available!
My Configuration:
CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-1135G7
Hard Drive: 1TB - WD_BLACK™ SN850 NVMe™
Memory: 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-3200
Customization
Keyboard: German
Bezel: Black
Expansion cards
2 USB-A
2 USB-C
1 HDMI
Accessories
Framework Screwdriver
Power Adapter - EU
My operating system will be Manjaro Linux, I plan to switch to Linux for a long time, now is the right moment.
As soon as an Ethernet card comes out, I will buy that because that id the only drawback now.
CPU: 1185g7
RAM: 16GB (2x8GB)
Storage: BYO (Probably going to get a SK Hynix P31)
Keyboard: UK layout
Expansion cards: 2x USB-C, 1x USB-A, 1x DisplayPort, 1x HDMI, 1x MicroSD
Kinda went overboard with the spec but it’s replacing a 5-year-old budget laptop which has been driving me crazy. Hopefully when the silicon shortages end FW can look into getting an AMD variant out.
Planning on running Fedora Linux on my new FW!
CPU: I5-1135G7
RAM: bring by myself, I will go with 32 GB DDR4 3200.
Storage: bring by myself, 1TB 970 EVO
Adapters: 2xUSB A, 2xUSBC, 1xHDMi, 1xDP (If you charge the battery, one USB C port for that is recommended).
Operating System: I use an old windows 10 licence.
Great to see that Laptop in the EU!
Edit: Just decided to wait some more months. But I will definitely go for a framework laptop.
On the flipside for any new customer who hasn’t been following along on the forum, seeing information about the wifi card, when it isn’t something you can or cannot select will probably just serve to confuse people.
Don’t love the keyboard layout and don’t love the wobbly display, but I do love everything else.
I can see me using a wireless Lenovo keyboard a lot with this, but I’m looking forward to a performance uplift and the screen real estate versus my old Lenovo T440p.
EDIT: Good idea when buying expensive, fragile electronic kit… also buy protection. Dbrand mostly hyperblack titanium skins ordered.
