I’m batch 9 and my rubbish Dell clearly knows it’s not much longer for this world and is constantly playing up and freezing.

Need it for mid April but I think it’ll be coming late April/Early May

My pre-order was part of batch 2, and my laptop was delivered two weeks ago. As such, I recognize that I am rather late in making this post. Nonetheless, I thought it would still be beneficial to document my experience and provide some additional commentary around it.

Timeline:

  • Pre-order placement: 2023-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Payment captured: 2024-03-05T00:00:00Z *
  • Order shipped: 2024-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Delivery: 2024-03-11T00:00:00Z **

Configuration:

Notes:

* Echoing the experience of several others in this topic, I did not receive communication informing me that payment capture was completed successfully. This is not in any way an issue or a complaint, but it may be worth mentioning since it does seem to be a minor deviation from Framework’s stated protocol.

** From the posts I had read here on the forum prior to my package being delivered, I expected that I would be required to sign for it. Therefore, I was prepared to answer the door immediately when the FedEx driver arrived. However, the box was simply left on my porch and the driver was already walking back to their truck by the time I got there. Indeed, a status of “signature not required” is reported by the FedEx shipment tracker. Again, this is not a complaint, but I found it to be curious. Was I mistaken about the signature policy, or does it perhaps vary by delivery region?

*** As described in detail in another topic, I am planning to resell my Graphics Module once the 30-day return period on my order expires (on 2024-04-05T00:00:00Z). I will create a dedicated topic for this closer to that date if I have not found a buyer by then. In the meantime, if anyone with a Canadian shipping address is interested in this offer, please send me a private message so we can discuss the matter further. Thank you for your consideration.

My Batch 5 arrived yesterday in Germany.

  • announced on 2024-03-14
  • charged on 2024-03-18
  • shipped on 2024-03-20
  • arrived on 2024-03-25

So it took 11 days for me from announcement to arrival (2 weekends in between).

Did your laptop got delivered with Fedex or with DHL/Post?
I have only had bad experience with Fedex here in germany, so i’m a little scared of a broken Laptop when it arrives.

I ordered a PSU and some of the small expansion cards last week. They were shipped with Fedex from the Netherlands, but handling and delivery in Germany was by Hermes. The package did arrive, but was left on the doorstep.

leaving on the doorstep is no problem for me, i live in a rural area and my next “neighbour” is about 1km away. Hermes is not much better though  Thanks!

Fedex, but they were very nice. The package itself was a bit compressed in two corners, but nothing close to even damaging the inner packages.

I wouldn’t worry if it’s anywhere as good as my delivery. My only complaint with Fedex would be that they didn’t make it on Friday, but that’s probably mostly thanks to customs, I assume.

Wait, what? FedEx is the carrier? Do we have any control over that? FedEx in my area couldn’t deliver a package to the ocean if they were floating on a life raft in the ocean. . . And if they managed it, it would be broken. They dropped my Purple mattress on the ground, in the rain, on a gravel road, laying half way in the lane of travel at the end of my driveway. I’ve seen them on the cameras throwing boxes at my door so they don’t have to walk as far or knock. They’ve destroyed over $45,000 worth of packages for me, all because they can’t get here on time with a refrigerated package. Next Day means the next frickin’ day, not four days later!!! Please excuse me, I need to call the pastor and ask him to pray for my laptop.

Perhaps you could arrange to get it delivered to a pickup shop. That way they won’t really need to throw any packages. But by the sound of it, maybe they’ll do it anyway.

Yeah, FedEx has destroyed a lot of my packages and they sent my steam deck to the local FedEx office, then took it to the other side of the state for a week and brought it back. Why would you do that!?

I try not to be so negative, but I swear, sometimes I think those people are out to get me, or at least my packages. I think they enjoy throwing boxes. If it arrives damaged, I’ll just talk to Framework. Let them file the claim as the shipper. I’ll discuss using UPS at that point, after there’s proof of careless handling.

Yeah, fedex is horrible in Puerto Rico too, i wished they chose UPS. They’re great in my area.

I doubt they have it in for you, but they just don’t give a hoot about doing their job right, as long as they do it on time and their boss doesn’t get mad. Which they really, really, really should, but they don’t.

I assume you file complaints every time this happens? This is pretty unheard of where I live, although we don’t usually use FedEx (they do operate here I think). If this happened to me in the Netherlands, I’d definitely go after them until they compensated me for the entire value of the laptop + the enormous costs incurred by being without a laptop for yet more weeks.
