Bent pin in motherboard Keyboard connector

I sent a support request about this, but I just wanted to ask here if anyone else has encountered it.

I was working on my FW13 today (using it to recover data from an NVMe from a dead Surface), and when I went to put it back together again, I noticed one of the pins in the keyboard connector is bent.
I’m not sure how long it was bent, I certainly don’t remember bumping into it today (had the keyboard disconnected for less than 5 minutes).

Has anyone else seen this? Is the connector more fragile than I would have expected?
I’ve had this computer no longer than a month.

Amphenol advertises those connectors as resistant to pin damage and as self-aligning. Of course that is only to a certain extent, one still needs to be careful. Internal connectors like that are not as resistant as say, RAM or SSD slots.

I believe the pin normally hook into the housing along the top edge. Hard to be certain with the resolution when zoomed in but it looks like the spot where that pin hooks in broke.

Sure, I’m not expecting robust connections. But it’s not like I was in there scraping it with tweezers or something, I was just using the connector normally.

I almost didn’t even remove the keyboard, but I needed some extra room when swapping the SSDs.

Anyway, I’m glad to hear those connectors are supposed to be resistant to damage.

To follow-up: FW support has approved an RMA for the mainboard and type cover.

Turns out the cable on the type cover had a problem too. I didn’t notice until I took the requested pictures of it for the support request.

Thanks to the FW staff for their excellent support!
