Best new CPU for Linux compatibility?

I have 2 FW 13s, an 11th Gen and an AMD 7040. I am thinking about upgrading the CPU on the 11th Gen, but I would like to avoid the amdgpu/external dock issues that have plagued my 7040.

Do the new Intel CPUs have better Linux support, or should I stick with the devil I know?

I have a framework 13 with an intel ultra 7 155H and I have not noticed any issues. I am using the same version of Fedora and I updated my bios the other day to the current version 3.04. If you have anything you want me to check let me know and I would be happy to check for you.

Thanks for the reply! Do you ever use an external monitor connected via a dock, and if so does that ever give you any issues?

There is a patch for fixes with pluggable docks that just went upstream.

You can see if that helps your docking issues.

I sometimes do. I can give it a try this weekend and let you know the results. From past experience at home and work thunderbolt and usb 4 docks are somewhat sketchy regardless of what you do.

I used my laptop with a dock over the weekend a few times. I have 2 1440p monitors and ethernet connected to the dock. I did not have any issues.

JFYI there is some reference counting issue that was recently raised and looks like the root cause to a lot of docking bugs (both Intel and AMD).
